This is our banner. It's not a flag. For one thing, the design is an affront to vexillology. Oops! For another, it serves a different purpose. Our banner does not mark any borders or territory to be defended. It stakes no claim, guards no gates. It doesn't have to: it's for everyone. Rally 'round the standard :)
We do not place our faith in a slow march of progress. We are not asking anyone for permission to be who we are. We are already here!
Our joy is a fact of the human condition. It cannot be suppressed any more than sunshine striking raindrops in the air. It expands in every direction, and the colors run together. It gets all over the place. It soaks through the social fabric and glistens on the other side, like a dream come true. It doesn't want to talk about labels or validity, who belongs and who doesn't. It wants to abolish the police.
We keep us safe: even when nobody else will. The only way we survive under empire is together. Queers have known this for a long time. Fascism does not surprise us. Fascism is the denial beard of a world that wants to be free. Fascism is a parasite: it feeds on hate. Surprise! Love is stronger <3
